The Lifetime Achievement Award given by the Northshore Regional Endowement For The Arts is designed to honor those people who have roots in this region and have been successful in their lives and their art. As an organization whose goal is to promote the music and art education of people of this region and also to promote musicians and artists, people who have been successful with their talent are a model for us all. With a spotlight on the "greats of our region", this will give hope to those who follow in their footsteps that they too, might achieve a similar success.Hank Jones
Being honored as the first recipient of the Northshore Regional Endowment For The Arts' Lifetime Achievement Award, Mr. Hank Jones graciously accepts the award from Dr. Ted J. Hudspeth, founder of the NSREA and the Strawberry Jam'n Toast To The Arts. Mr. Hank has been instrumental in promoting musicians through this area since the 1930's when he hosted "The Hank Jones Show" from the Columbia Theatre in Hammond, LA. He brought the Louisiana Hayride to Ponchatoula and hosted many famous people on stage in this area. He was instrument to the success of the Louisiana Hayride in Walker, LA. Upon receiving the Life Achievement Award, Mr. Jones stated that he was "handing the torch over" to Dr. Hudspeth to continue promoting musicians in this region. Hank Jones is still actively playing music in this area and continues his public service that he started many years ago. |
