Welcome to the web page of the Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble, a 19 piece Big Band made up of musicians from all walks of life. The BRJE was established on Columbus Day, October 11, 1993 when it held its first rehearsal in the band room of Baton Rouge Magnet High School. The BRJE is under the direction of Mr. John Gerbrecht. The BRJE is incorporated with the Louisiana Secretary of State's office as a non-profit corporation. It will soon apply to the IRS for 501-C3 non-profit status. Its mission is to expose the citizens of the Baton Rouge area to the sound of the Big Bands, doing so by performing at community events all across the metro area. Special thanks to pastor Rev.
