Billy Bensing Original Rocky Horror Show cast member, Billy Bensing, is a well-traveled singer/songwriter who has honed his craft all over the world. He began writing songs in Paris after moving there from Los Angeles at the age of 16. Three years later he moved to Australia to join the original cast of The Rocky Horror Show. After a successful run with the show Billy continued to write and record, connecting with other artists making a name for himself throughout Australia and Europe. His singing and songwriting has been his sole passion and livelihood ever since. He returned to Los Angeles in 1977, in his early 20s, to write and perform all over the west coast. Billy relocated to the serene foothills of Grass Valley, Ca in 1984 and performed extensively throughout Northern California for the next 17 years carving a loyal fan base and continues to gather new fans wherever he plays. In 2002 Billy moved to New Orleans and is currently establishing his talents there with the local music scene. When he's not touring, Billy spends time in Nashville, recording his new album with an established team of producers and engineers. "It will stand up to anything out there today," said producer, Andy May, regarding Billy's new recording, Crazy Moon. "Billys four songs recorded last year could be played anywhere on the planet." Billy's song, Old Mother Sea was used in the Australian movie, Crystal Voyager, featuring the sound track by Pink Floyd. Billy also starred in and composed the entire soundtrack for the Australian promotional film, Listen to the Sunrise. He also helped pioneer the first "in the ear" sound monitoring system in the late 70s, working with the bands of Bob Dylan, Seals and Croft, and Bette Midlers Divine Madness production. Billys music is mystical Americana folk rock. He has his own unique style with influences from Cat Stevens, Neil Young, James Taylor, and David Gray all rolled into one. He is an accomplished rhythm guitarist well versed in finger picking style. He also excels at mandolin, harmonica, keyboard and keyboard programming. He is a magnetic performer who sings about love that touches the soul. Billy has always made his own music without regard to fashionable music fads. He is currently and actively pursuing work with movie soundtracks and continues to perform and record. * * *VENUES including: Mike Walsh TV Show (Sydney, Australia) * Chris Kirby TV Show (Sydney, Australia) * Café American (Paris) Woodford Festival (Queensland, Australia) * Smokehouse (Los Angeles) * Ice House (Los Angeles) Wells Spring Festival (Ashland, Oregon) * Center of the Arts (Grass Valley, Ca) Roseville Cable TV Special Guest "Friday Night Live" (Roseville, CA) * Strawberry Jam Festival (Ponchatoula, Louisiana) LIVE RADIO: KVMR 89.5 ( Nevada City, CA) TANGI 96.5 (Hammond, LA) DISCOGRAPHY: Crazy Moon Listen to the Sunrise Drovers Lament Living in the City Billy Bensing Unplugged 19192 Leopard Ct., Grass Valley, CA 95949 * phone 985 789-0164, 530 346-8618 * e-mail lgscott@infostations.com
