Ted J. Hudspeth, Sr., MD & Becky Anne Eymard, OT                     Becky & Ted Jam at the Frog's Breath Saloon

Born in Hammond and raised in Amite, Dr. Ted J. Hudspeth is a lifelong resident of Tangipahoa Parish. Music has played a big part in Dr. Ted’s life since he was 11 years old. By the age of 14, he began teaching guitar and piano lessons at home and at Hayden’s Music Co. in Hammond. "Teaching 40 students a week and playing music on the weekends gave me a real appreciation of what musicians go through to support themselves," states Dr. Ted. He did this for three years until he began his pre-medical career in 1983 as an early admissions student at LSU. During this time, he continued to play music on weekends to help support himself through college and medical school. He has continued to play and write music with fellow physicians that he trained with since he left for college. He and his sister-in-law, Becky Eymard, have a band named Family Affair and play for gigs and fund raisers like the Strawberry Jam'n Toast To The Arts and the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.  "Playing for the Relay for Life means a lot to me because my mother died of breast cancer when I was 7 years old. It is because of her that I wanted to grow up to be a doctor-so that I could try to cure breast cancer." Dr. Ted has pursued his dream of helping folks by working as a family practitioner in Hammond at Ochsner Clinic where he gears his practice towards preventative medicine.  Dr. Ted is the driving force behind the creation and success of Ponchatoula's first Strawberry Jam'n Toast To The Arts in which on May 26, 2001, 40 bands and 26 artists assembled in Ponchatoula for the first festival.  He also created the Northshore Regional Endowment For The Arts which is a non-profit organization geared towards teaching music and arts to local children, supporting and promoting music and arts in the area, and increasing the venues that local artists and musicians can be seen and heard.

Becky Eymard was born & raised in Galliano, Louisiana in the heart of Cajun country. Music has been a part of her life since her first piano lesson at 9 years old, and she hasn’t stopped since. After singing and playing acoustic guitar in the 70’s in coffeehouses such as The Caterie in Baton Rouge, Becky performed on the road as a solo act as well as with the group Nightlife, in Texas, Colorado, Las Vegas, and several southern states. Becky, who is currently playing keyboards, alto saxophone, and guitar, brings 25 years of professional experience to Family Affair. The duo first met when Ted married Becky’s youngest sister Mary, and began jamming together at family functions. Both musicians have wanted to perform together since Becky moved to Hammond in 1994, and they are grateful for the opportunity to do that.  Becky has also been a strong influence in the creation of the Northshore Regional Endowment For The Arts and serves on the Board of Directors of the organization.  Becky works as an Occupational Therapist at Landmark Nursing Home.

Dr. Ted's own "Strawberry Beat" which is used as the theme song to Ponchatoula's Strawberry Jam'n Toast To The Arts festival.   He wrote and recorded it in the Family Affair Studio in Ponchatoula.  To preview and purchase a copy of your own, please contact Dr. Ted @ strawjam@i-55.com or go to the Local CD's For Sale page on this site.   Procedes go to help fund the Northshore Regional Endowment For The Arts
