Welcome to FELLOM BALLET SCHOOL: CLASSICAL BALLET & POINTE (ages 3 & up)

OUR MISSION:  To provide a student-centered, positive experience in the celebration of ballet as an art form. Classes run from September (the day after Labor Day) through May.  (Registration continues throughout the year.)  We invite you to enroll your child in our Fellom Ballet School. We still believe after over 40 years that the study of dance (especially ballet) is ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU CAN PROVIDE FOR YOUR CHILD.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:  Our philosophy embraces a firm commitment to the study of classical ballet as the basic foundation for building strong dancers.  Our philosophy also includes a strong belief in nurturing a child’s development through the art of ballet by providing positive, challenging learning experiences which help develop poise, grace, cognitive development, self-reliance, team spirit, and cooperation to endure a lifetime.  We support the belief that ballet stimulates and encompasses the human dimensions of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.  We also believe it is important to provide dance activities that are developmentally appropriate for children and youth.

OUR HISTORY:  Cynthia Fellom Tricou, Artie Fellom Gautier, and Martie Fellom founded the school in 1965.  The sisters pursued professions in education, earned graduate degrees, and studied classical ballet as well as many other dance forms in New York, Texas, Hawaii, Colorado, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.  The three still remain active in all aspects of the school and work closely with an outstanding team of teachers.

Fellom Ballet School has been affiliated with Hammond Ballet Company (Hammond’s only civic ballet company) since it was founded in 1996.  The Company’s founder/director, Janet Wade Neyrey, is director of production and upper level classes at Fellom Ballet.

FACULTY:  The teachers at Fellom Ballet School are carefully selected on the basis of training, experience, personal character, creativity, and artistry.  A highly selective faculty is central to the implementation of the school's philosophy.
