SLU's Dept. of Music and Dramatic Arts

The Department of Music and Dramatic Arts boasts a lengthy heritage of excellence in the training of educators and professional musicians.  Southeastern is a comprehensive school granting both undergraduate and graduate degrees in performance, music education, and academic areas.

Central to its mission are a faculty of sixteen full-time and nineteen part-time teachers and scholars, and a diverse student body from throughout the United States and several foreign countries, including Honduras, Bulgaria, Russia, Romania and Brazil.  SLU's faculty are respected performers, composers, and educators who take a deep and lasting interest in their students. Faculty are leaders in their fields, holding offices in state and national professional organizations and receiving national and university awards in teaching, research and creative activity.  They can be heard performing nationally and internationally in live concerts and on compact discs. Graduates have distinguished themselves in a variety of ways as performers and educators, from public schools, colleges and universities to success on the stage.  Ultimately, through its ensembles, faculty, and degree offerings, SLU's Department of Music and Dramatic Arts cultivates an appreciation of music in its students, facilitating their growth as artists and pedagogues.
