parish national bank logo copy.JPG (9441 bytes) Parish National is the proud sponsor of this year's Music Industry Expo Center

Featured this year will be the festival's first Music Industry Expo Center.  It will be an area where local bands, artists, promoters, producers, radio stations, recording studios, and anyone interested in networking this region into a music and arts center is invited to display their talents and meet with others with creative talents and similar goals.   It is our hope that this will allow people to forge new friendships and work together on other activities throughout the year so that we can keep building the industry of music and art in this region.  It will be located on North 6th St in Le Fleur De Lis' Pavillion just across the street from the Affilliated Therapy Stage.

In addition to the booths in the pavillion, a live mic will be available onstage inside the Fleur De Lis where songwriters and musicians can get up and "Jam at the Jam"!  Feel free to bring your instrument to play at this year's Strawberry Jam on this stage.

Booth spaces are just $50.00 for businesses.  If you are interested, contact Al Taylor at jaytalent@aol.com or at 985-974-5574.

Many Bands

Because space may be limited, there may only be enough room for one person from each band to attend. I suggest each band select the person who usually writes their original material to represent the band at the seminar.

_______________________

I encourage all bands to begin their preparation for the Expo. Suggestions -

(1) If you don't already have one, you need to start putting together some type of "press kit"
(2) Be looking for some people who will be willing to rotate shifts at your booth during the day (Family, friends).
(3) Since you will also be allowed to sell your CDs at your booth, you need to prepare a "eye-catching" poster for marketing them. (Note: Be prepared to pay city taxes on sales of items at the Expo, on an honor system this year)
(4) You will also need to bring a card table and maybe a couple of folding chairs.

I am hoping for a large turnout of representatives from the music industry. But keep in mind that you, our area bands, are the real key to making the Strawberry Jam Music Industry Expo a success. Please participate in the Expo, and send a band member to the seminar. These are opportunities you have earned. Without your music, there would be no Strawberry Jam.

Please let me know by Monday, March 10, 2003, if your band plans to participate in the Music Industry Expo, and/or send a band member to the Seminar on  Songwriting. Feel free to include any comments, questions, or suggestions.

I look forward to hearing your band at the Strawberry Jam, and meeting you at the Music Industry Expo. Thanks for the music.
